An old work colleague of mine maintains a blog over at mikedowney.co.uk. He's got some cracking pictures on his site. Including pictures of comet Hale Bopp.

Bash.org is an occasionally riotously funny quote site where peoples funny postings to IRC channels are posted on.

The BBC has a happiness web site. Now that can't be a bad thing!

My Geology and Fossil Page so far mostly of a mystery fossil. I hope to take some more picures etc. should my, Toad of Toad Hall like, interest last long enough.

The daily su doku page.

There used to be a great shop in Colwyn Bay called Faze3 you could buy puzzles and oddments that were ideal for the gift for the person with (nearly) everything. Unfortunately they didn't renew the lease for the shop and have gone web only. You can find them at www.faze3.co.uk. They also have japanese puzzle boxes.

If you like graffiti then Banksy is a quirky cheeky chappy.

Learn chinese characters.

Doing my bit for consumer protection, why not visit the saynoto0870.com web site where you can sometimes find alternative numbers that are cheaper to ring than the 0870 numbers that seem to be used by a lot of companies.

Bit of a local interest one: Colwyn Bay planning applications

The Guardian newspaper has an online section called Bad Science which is often funny or infuriating.

For those who have, or want, a microscope here's a good web site.

UK 'News'paper web sites are: The Independent, The Guardian. Other daily comics exist but aren't worth a mention.

A few years ago I used to train under a martial art called Marbo. I have finally found the new web site for it www.pathwalker.info

My next door neighbour, a fascinating gentleman, works for touchstones12 a drug and alcohol rehab type of thingy.

Unfortunately, due to an increase in p0rn the "Swearing in all languages" link has had to be removed from the side bar links. A sad loss to all who want to swear in many languages. I take it as my duty, to maintain a close watch of the offending website, to see if there is a reduction in the p0rn content.

If, like me, you are getting increasingly disillusioned with the consumer's most important festival pay a visit to the xmasresistance.org web site or visit ihatechristmas.org which is considerably more offensive and very frustrating as I can't seem to get past the intro page, or there is an "I hate christmas blog" at ihatechristmas.ca. All these web sites are good anti-christmas sites.

Lets face it there must be a better way to enjoy winter because christmas certainly isn't working for me. I am considering spending twice as much for peoples birthday present and skipping christmas altogether.

You may not believe it, but I have a spiritual side. My leanings are vaguely anarchic scientist with a strong side helping of absolute realism, however Zen Buddhism caught my eye very early in life and I am very fond of it. Zen has much to recommend it as a philosphy. If nothing else most of it's founders were radical and iconclastic. So if you wish to stop your mental turmoil by recognising the unity of duality (and the non existence of unity) and seeing, with clarity, into the heart of reality then try some Zen koans (enlightenment stories), or read mine.

It takes the form of an imagined conversation between a karmically bound monk and a great awakened master.

Monk: "Oh great enlightened master! Does monkeymike.co.uk contain anything worth reading?"

Awakened one: "No! It is bloody awful"
