This page is dedicated to two endearing little souls that don't like new experiences, strangers, most types of cat food or loud sudden noises. To Bob and Tabatha.
I would like to say that these are two of the idlest cats ever, but I can't as when they are not sleeping they are haring. Haring involves sprinting from one end of the house to the other. Tails held high, with that, slightly sideways, jaunty gait that can only be described as joyous. Tragically they are too fast for me. Most of these pictures are of idling. Fighting when it occurs is usually over dominance of the "brown chair" territory. The above pictures show two instances of a truce of sorts over the chair. Bob is the true chair fanatic and gives me filthy looks if I dare sit in it to read a book. Bob like most children also has a fondness for cardboard boxes. Amazon.co.uk boxes can usually be used but sometimes my order wasn't big enough... ...whats this a new box, Hmmph....not exactly comfy...
...still I'll see what I can do..............whats that blithering idiot doing with that little flashing box...
...now where was I. Ah yes........snurch...z..z.z.z.z.z.z.z.zzzz.z.z.z........ Parp!
We have recently (recently in geological terms) had some work done on the house by some builders. For ~12 months we had rucks of scaffolding on the outside of the house. Bob loved it. He couldn't get enough of climbing ladders. They both spent loads of time on the scaffolding. I usually had to get them in at night using an upstairs window. A couple of times Bob got 'stuck' on the roof. I think he went up there after birds and then became concerned about his ability to get down. One day when Bob was up on the roof I picked up the digital camera and went up after him to see what I could record of the incident. Isn't he a clever boy. He was giving it the big "meouw" by now. The roof to the left is our neighbours (we live in a semi) the roof to the right is ours (or Bobs as he's spent more time on it than anyone else) In this instance I managed to persuade him to come back over towards the scaffolding platform, where I was going to carry him down the ladder. I was willing to put up with the loss of 7 pints of blood from scratches. Instead he found his own way down... Although Bob appears to be the most adventurous, Tabs is the most acrobatic and has the best balance:
Bob is a lot less sure footed. These cats are so cute that I have had to create another page with some kitten pictures on it. This should prevent cuteness overload. Only go here if you think you can hack it. Here is another scaffolding movie: Cats and Ladders. Which shows both cats playing on some scaffolding outside my study window. And one final WMV file for now. Drain Cat. The mystery cat that is the centre of attention, I call Tarker because there is something of the otter about him. The black and white cat that you can see in the picture below is called murphy and is a character from next door. He's a little smasher and knows everyone in the street.
can you guess where our fridge is? Our garden has a very small pond which Bob has a fetish about. In the pond is/was a three legged frog that Bob used to carry around in his mouth. Froggy is missing a right front leg. This picture was taken when I was cleaning out the pond. Although he might now be missing a body, his other limbs and a head. I haven't seen him this year. Tabatha has so far brought in 2 live bats. One was seriously damaged and died, I managed to save the other one (even though it bit me) and it lived to squeek another day. I assume she snatched them out of the air. This picture was taken of a bat that Murphy (next doors little smasher) managed to trap in our log pile. He wasn't very good at flying (the bat not Murphy) so I taped the bat into a box and left him in the kitchen overnight. Next morning he'd escaped. Never did find out where he went or how he got out.
This is our garden from my study window.
It's not the nicest garden in the street and I am a little proud of that. Can you spot the pond? I assure you it's in the picture. |
